Pre-School Storytime

Come and share the wonder of books with us. Enjoy 45 minutes of stories, songs, rhymes and activities with your two to five year olds.

Storytime sessions are conducted throughout the year, except for the month of January.
Listening to stories and songs helps to develop children's language and motor skills.
Storytime introduces children to a wide range of books, encourages a life-long love of reading and libraries, and gives your child the opportunity to mix with other children.

Our experienced and enthusiastic library staff offer these sessions at the following libraries.

Carlton - Monday 2:00pm, Thursday 11:00am
Collingwood - Friday 11:00am
East Melbourne - Wednesday 11:00am
Fitzroy - Thursday 11:00am
North Fitzroy - Tuesday 11:00am

Sessions commence in the first week of February.

Yammy Toddler Time

Encourage your child to have a life-long love of books! Enjoy 30 minutes of books. For children aged between 12 - 24 months.

Holiday Happenings

During the school holidays each library holds activity sessions for primary and secondary school aged children. Activities include stories, craft, games, and live performances, including theatre shows at Richmond Library. Session times for Holiday Happenings as well as other events happening in the Yarra-Melbourne Regional Libraries are located on the kids and Youthlounge pages.

Boys, Blokes and Books

A new book group that gives boys and their dads* a chance to talk about books.
For 10-14 year old boys and their dads. Run in partnership with the Australian Centre for Youth Literature.

* or male carer. Mums also welcome!

Children's Week

Various activities are held to celebrate Children's Week in October.

Special Event Storytimes

Held throughout the year. Themes include Halloween, Christmas and Australiana.
